Thank you for appreciating this wonderful show. You've nailed it precisely. I hope more people catch on to the joke.

Okay, I'd never heard of the show until reading about it on this blog. I TIVO'ed and just finished watching 'Mugging.'
Hilarious. Thank you for bringing it up.
I especially liked the NZ consulate's bemoaning the fact that even though he advises visitors to avoid crowds and stay in back alleys, they nevertheless manage to get mugged at a high rate.
Too funny. Needless to say, I've taken out a season pass on it.

They broke the song time approach in episode 3 when as a song ends, the lead mugger (my favorite character actor, seen in the Sopranos, Rescue Me, and NYPD Blue, and a dead ringer for a poor fellow we interviewed in Missouri recently who shared his frustration with his bank over his experience losing thousands of dollars to a Nigerian scam) asks if them if they were just dancing...it felt a bit like a 4th wall break or something - I thought only WE could see that!

I'm so behind on my media watching...The Conchords sit on my TiVo, awaiting a spare moment to catch up with them, amidst 10 Charlie Roses and a bunch of Daily Shows, not to mention last season's The Wire! What am I doing wasting time over here?!?

The Conchords' thing I love best is their song "Albi the Racist Dragon", which title in just four words captures every single one of Scott Adams' Secrets of Comedy (http://qurl.com/tgmbp) - "Cute (as in kids and animals), Naughty, Bizarre, Clever, Recognizable (You’ve been there), Cruel". Those Conchord guys have really got their comedy fundamentals nailed.
