DonorsChoose.org has issued a challenge to the blogging community. (This site is an undertaking of Michael Everett-Lane, a friend of this blog.)
Please have a look at the DonorsChoose.org website and see if there is anything you’d like to support. I used the keyword "shakespeare" and ended up making a contribution to the Stone Scholastic Academy in Chicago.
Here’s what a teacher at Stone Scholastic said to reel me in.
I am a 7th and 8th grade language arts teacher in Chicago, Illinois. The school I work for has a diverse ethnic population with students from all income levels. Recently I was able to introduce one of the greatest playwrights of all time to my seventh grade classes: Shakespeare! I used a set of No Fear Shakespeare books to bring "A Midsummer’s Night Dream" into our classroom. The students were hooked right from the start!
I like this idea of connecting individual supporters to particular projects, schools, and teachers. Anyhow, have a look and see what you think.

Wow, I knew public education was underfunded in the US, but has it really come to panhandling?
Thanks for the shout-out, Grant!
